Tragedy has struck the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) college, losing its founder Lizz Wanyoike who has succumbed to cancer at a Nairobi hospital.

She passed on while undergoing treatment today at 73 years.

She has been a beacon in the education sector having started education facilities that have offered different courses to many.

Apart from NIBS, she also established Lizz Wanyoike Preparatory School adjacent to the college.

She was a businesswoman, entrepreneur, educator and philanthropist, having acquired a Degree in education from Kenyatta University.

She taught at State House Girls in Nairobi in 1972, but after realizing her star was not in teaching, she started Temple College that offered Secretarial Studies before the idea of NIBS came.

She will be remembered for her commitment to offering technical studies to students who did not perform well in their secondary education, NIBS serving as a bridging college for a very long time.
