Latest KNUT opinion polls in Narok County show Wilson Tololo, Lorna Chepkemoi and Ann Bor emerging as frontrunners for Treasurer, Chairperson and Woman Representative, with teachers expressing support for fresh, welfare-focused leadership.

In the latest opinion polls conducted by the Narok County KNUT branch, Wilson Tololo, Lorna Chepkemoi, and Ann Bor are emerging as frontrunners in the races for Treasurer, Chairperson, and Woman Representative, signalling a possible shake-up in leadership as they challenge current officeholders.

The poll shows the Treasurer contest is shaping up to be equally competitive, with Wilson Tololo emerging as a strong contender alongside Tololo, reflecting teacher interest in fresh financial leadership.

The race is signalling a possible shift in leadership as teachers show growing support for experienced, independent-minded candidates.

Tololo, who has served for over two and a half years as acting Chairman and multiple terms as Vice Chairman under then-chairmen Edwin Sang and Robert Simotwo, is believed to have gained experience from these great union leaders.

He has also served a full term on the BEC for the Ololunga and Mara areas.

During his tenure, he played a key role in forming welfare programs for teachers in Ololulunga, Mara, and Melelo—initiatives that teachers continue to credit as transformative for their professional lives.

Teachers in Narok County highlight Tololo’s proven track record and independent approach as major reasons for their support.

“He has always been hands-on and transparent in all matters affecting us. Wilson understands our needs and has always worked to improve our welfare. We feel he truly represents us,” said one teacher.

On her part, Lorna Chepkemoi is leading the Chairperson race with 55 per cent of the vote, ahead of incumbent Newton, who received 42 per cent. The remaining 3 percent of respondents remain undecided.

Teachers attribute Chepkemoi’s lead to her commitment to inclusive leadership, active engagement in educational matters, and a strong focus on improving teacher welfare. Newton, despite holding the seat, faces growing opposition from teachers seeking fresh leadership, indicating a competitive race ahead.

In the Woman Representative category, Ann Bor has taken a commanding lead with 56% percent of the votes, while incumbent Ann Saramei trails at 40 percent. Only 4 percent of respondents remain undecided. Bor’s popularity is credited to her consistent advocacy for female teachers’ welfare, gender-inclusive initiatives, and responsiveness to teachers’ concerns.

KNUT officials emphasize that while the opinion polls highlight current sentiment, they are not final election results. Teachers note that active campaigning in the months leading up to the elections could still influence outcomes.

The final KNUT branch elections are scheduled for next year. As the contests intensify, all eyes will be on Lorna Chepkemoi, Ann Bor, and Wilson Tololo to see if they can maintain momentum and unseat incumbents in what promises to be a closely watched election cycle.
