Tindiret Technical and Vocational College (TVC) has marked a historic milestone with its inaugural graduation ceremony, held on November 21, 2025, celebrating years of steady growth in infrastructure, academic programmes, and community trust.

Since its establishment, the institution has expanded its course offerings to include building and civil engineering, electrical and electronics, computer studies, agribusiness, hospitality, fashion design, applied sciences, and business studies.

These programmes have been supported by local leaders and national agencies working to increase access to technical and vocational training in the region.

College administrators say the pioneer graduating class is a testament to the institution’s progress, noting that the students have undergone rigorous practical training, industrial attachments, and community projects that have already begun to influence local industries.

The community of Sigoria has welcomed the milestone with pride, recalling years when young people in Tinderet had limited access to quality technical education. Many residents said they were forced to travel long distances or forgo further studies due to financial and geographical barriers.

Parents now describe the college as a game changer that offers proximity, affordability, and hope for their children’s futures. Local employers have also expressed optimism that a pipeline of skilled graduates will soon boost the region’s workforce.

Tinderet Member of Parliament Julius Melly, a strong champion of vocational education, hailed the graduation as a turning point for the constituency.

“TVET institutions are not designed for academic failures. They are vital engines of national development,” said MP Julius Melly.

He stressed that hands-on skills taught in technical colleges are essential for modern economies and that graduates from such institutions possess competencies in high demand across industries.

Melly linked the college’s progress to broader economic transformation, arguing that equipping youth with technical skills would spur job creation, entrepreneurship, and reduced dependence on traditional employment.

“A skilled workforce can attract investors, boost infrastructure, and support industries like construction, agriculture, manufacturing, and hospitality,” said Melly.

He added that with the rise of youth-led enterprises and startups, he envisions Tinderet becoming a hub of innovation and sustainable economic activity.

To support this vision, the MP has pushed for increased government funding for TVET institutions, lobbied companies to offer educational sponsorships, and ensured that students benefit from NG-CDF bursaries, saying no capable learner should miss out due to financial limitations.

The graduation comes at a time when the region continues to grapple with challenges, including inadequate facilities, learning materials, and staffing. Yet, against this backdrop, Tindiret TVTC stands out as a beacon of progress. The institution has hosted community workshops, offered short courses, and collaborated with farmers, artisans, and local businesses.

Residents say they believe the college will continue to shape social and economic progress across Sigoria and beyond as it expands.

Excitement filled the air during the ceremony, as graduates celebrated the beginning of what many described as a new chapter filled with opportunity and responsibility. For MP Melly and the wider Tinderet community, the day symbolised renewed hope and the realisation of a dream rooted in empowerment through education.

The event drew hundreds of attendees eager to witness the birth of a new legacy for Tindiret Technical and Vocational Training College. This legacy promises to uplift generations to come.
