Tindiret TVC holds successful Career Day

Tindiret Technical and Vocational College (TTVC) recently held a successful Career Day at the college grounds geared towards encouraging and educating students about the importance of technical training and its relation to creation of jobs and employment opportunities.

The event was presided over by Uasin Gishu Senator Hon Jackson Mandago.

Mandago, who was also the talk facilitator, encouraged students to embrace technical skills and register for courses at the college for the betterment of their future lives.

He pointed out that when he served as a governor, he helped many students in technical training institutions flourish.

“A good number are running serious income generating project which have helped create employment,” he noted.

Speaking during the event, Principal Abdi Tiony said that the college has more than 800 students with a dynamic team of 36 trainers and 10 support staff.

It has a strong team of Board of Governors led by Margaret Koech.

Tiony said currently the institution has 39 accredited academic programmes offered at artisan, craft certificates and diploma levels in four departments namely Business, ICT, Electrical Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering.

He stated that in line with the college’s strategic plan, they are working towards ISO 900:2015 certification to ensure a holistic approach to training self-driven graduates aimed at achieving industrialization as envisaged in Vision 2030.

“We have embraced Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) to help train competent learners with transferable skills and to link education and training to the skills needed in the job market,” the principal said.

He expressed joy at being able to host a successful career  day and encouraged parents to enroll their children at the institution to enable them gain skills that transform the society.

Tiony added that the college aspires to position itself as an institution of choice in the training of world class highly skilled technical trainees.

He thanked the CDF led by the area MP Julius Melly for buying for the college modern ICT and Engineering equipment to help during practical lessons.

The MP said his office has invested in the college and will ensure that it provides a conducive learning environment for students seeking to brighten their future.

KTTI Principal Dr Edwin Tarno emphasized on the need for locals to embrace technical skills.

“The shortest route to success in the current technological world is to register for courses which can offer practical skills.” He argued.

Tindiret TVC was established in 2019 after President Hon William Ruto graced the ground breaking ceremony of the college. Hon Melly sponsored the first 500 students.

The college is accredited and regulated by the TVETA.
