Three teachers die in Memon School bus crash

Three teachers lost their lives in a bus accident on Saturday, November 19 in Taita Taveta County.

The Memon Academy school bus which was transporting several teachers from a funeral crashed at Josa black spot in Taita Taveta leading to the demise of three teachers and several others injured.

“There was a bad crash at Josa black spot in Taita involving Memon School bus. People have lost their lives and rescue efforts are on-going,” Sikika Road Safety reported.

The injured teachers were rushed to the hospital and the exact number of individuals who were being transported by the bus is yet to be known.

The newly-elected East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative Suleiman Shabal gave his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished those the injured a quick recovery.

“I’m saddened by the reports of an accident involving the Memon Academy bus carrying teachers travelling to attend a funeral. The accident in Taita Taveta County is reported to have led to the loss of some of the teachers on the bus. My prayers and that of my wife Rahma go out to the family of the deceased, the injured, and the school management. May Allah rest the departed souls in eternal peace,” said Shabal.
