Three Kenyan students have been awarded in the Africa Tech Challenge (ATC) construction contest sponsored by the Chinese firm AVIC INTL Project Engineering Company.
Among the three, two are from Meru National Polytechnic and the other is from Gatundu South TVC among 259 from 45 schools in seven countries that took part in the ATC contest.
Other teams that won and shall be proceeding to the finals are from Ghanaian, Ugandan, Tanzanian, Zambian, Zimbabwean and Egyptian universities.
According to the Chinese firm, the competition’s winners received an unrevealed sum of money following a four-week boot camp.
The participants had earlier been trained online for four weeks from July 25th to August 22nd through the AVIC INTL Vocational Education Online Platform.
The training focused on understanding the engineering drawing projection, CAD software operation, International drafting standards, and floor plan sketches.
The competition entailed reading and drafting of construction drawings.
Kenyans have been raising the country’s flag high through innovative projects that have scooped various awards in global and continental competitions.
