Three candidates were barred from sitting their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations after they were found with mobile phones.

Exam malpractice has being reported from Tawakal Primary School in Mandera during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE) exam where three candidates were found with mobile phones in exam room.

It is alleged that the Tawakal Primary School candidates had received some information in the phones from another school.

Mandera County Criminal Investigations Officer, Benedict Kigen said the three phones were confiscated by a Supervisor.

“We are interrogating the Centre Manager to know how these candidates ended up with mobile phones in the examination room yet they know very well it’s a crime,” he said.

The three were later allowed to continue with their exams after it was found that what they had received in the phones was not similar to the exam.

In the same school, a police officer was injured after unknown persons pelted stones at the school.

It is alleged that he was attacked by people who wanted to sneak in mobile phones but were being blocked by their surveillance.

Kigen promised that all culprits behind the action shall be brought to book.
