Fgee Technology Limited, a dealer in laptops, printers and projectors has partnered with Asus Technology from Taiwan to donate computers to high schools across the country.
The firm Chief Executive Officer Francis Ngugi said the move is part of a five year programme that will see them donate about 2000 computers to schools. He said the project is aimed at improving Information technology skills of students across the country.
Speaking at Thika High School when he presented five computers, Ngugi said research indicates that many schools in the country lacked or had few computers.
He said information technology can no longer be ignored since it holds the future of the country due to globalisation. He said the computers were advantageous to schools since they consume less power.
“The computers are some of the latest in the market. It is a CPU within a screen,” he said. Ngugi called on government and other Organisation to partner with them in order to help the country become technologically savvy.
Thika High Principal Julius Muraya said the computers will go a long way in improving IT awareness in the school. He said the computers had come at the right time since IT is set to start being used in the teaching of science and mathematics subjects.
