Terms improve as Nakuru places ECDE teachers under permanent employment

By Peter Otuoro

The County Government of  Nakuru has employed 700 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

Nakuru County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of education Francis Mwangi said the teachers will be deployed in all their 55 Wards.

While addressing the press in his office on the county ECDE current status, Mwangi said the county had trained ECDE teachers on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to ensure proper dispensation of the curriculum.

“The county has trained all ECDE teachers on the CBC to increase their appreciation of the new curriculum,” said Mwangi, adding that they were also sensitized on Covid-19 to be able to protect themselves and their pupils.

Mwangi said the county had improved ECD infrastructure by constructing 350 classrooms across the county, in addition to two ECDEC centres of excellence in Muslim primary and Mlimani primary schools in Naishava Sub-county.

“We want to have classic ECD centres in all our sub-counties. We will spread the centres to all sub-counties in due course,” said Mwangi.
