Teamwork is crucial for good grades

Stakeholders in the education sector have been asked to be actively involved in the formulation of strategies to enhance quality teaching and learning in Murang’a county.

Murang’a East, sub county, Director of the education department Richard Ng’ang’a says the partners are crucial in management to improve delivery.

 He observed that performance standards in his region had grown due to measures put in place by concerned players.

Addressing a party organized to celebrate the 2020 KCPE and KCSE examination results, Ng’ang’a said team work among the stakeholders contributs to effective teaching.                                                                                              

He said the sub county emerged the best in Murang’a as a result of efforts employed by parents and members of Boards of Management BOMS) who provided support to motivate teachers    and learners.

Ng’ang’a added that close working efforts among parents, teachers and officers a created positive mindset that uplifted educational standards in the region.

Capacity building and civic awareness meetings where parents were   enlightened on their roles in education also brought positive changes in the sector.  .

 That empowered the parents to participate in the implementation of curriculum to the benefit of the learners.

Ng’ang’a stressed more efforts are required to tackle challenges facing some schools in the area.

The sub county mean score rose to 259.15 in the 2020 KCPE exams from 251.85 realized in 2019.

Primary schools presented 2675 candidates with 53 scoring over 400 marks, 908 getting over 300 points, 1121 scoring 250 and above marks, while 565 had less than 200 points.

In the 2020 KCSE exams, some 2,316 candidates sat for the examination with 32 scoring straight grade A.  91 got A-minus, 97 B+, 106 B, 150 C+  with 657 qualifying to pursue university education.

The chairman of the sub county’s primary schools heads associations Stephen Mugo urged teachers to employ their experience and professionalism to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum.

 Mugo said despite challenges of shortage of resources, teachers and learners are determined to archive their educational goals.
