Schools participating in this year’s Western Region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) games have been warned against fielding ineligible players as the competitions kick off.
Addressing them at Bungoma High School during the official kick off ceremony, the Western Regional Director of Education Jared Obiero noted that all participants should be bonafide and eligible students.
“Before any match starts each principal of the participating teams in the championship must indentify learners and no goons nor villagers should interfere with matches,” he said, urging them to embrace a high sense of discipline as they are not only competing but are brothers and sisters.

He told all officials including referees to adhere to the rules as anyone going against them will be banned.
“I urge all coaches and referees to adhere to quality officiation as they will give us best teams to represent our Western Region in the nationals,” said Obiero.
His sentiments were echoed by TSC Director for Bungoma County Wilson Kibor Koros.
On his part, Moffat Okisai, KUPPET Executive Secretary for Busia County, urged President William Ruto to consider someone capable of running the Ministry of Education properly as a Cabinet Secretary.
Augustine Luketelo, Bungoma County KUPPET Executive Secretary, urged the Ministry of Education to promote teachers whose teams have reached the regional competitions to boost their morale.
In the opening soccer match, Kibabii High School beat John Osogo of Busia County one nil, while on the second day Ebwali drew 0-0 with Musingu High School in a tight match played at Sudi Stadium.
