Teaching fraternity mourning principal who perished in road accident

Road accident

A dark cloud has engulfed Kisii County teaching fraternity as they mourn one of their own who perished in a tragic road accident on Sunday night.

According to those who witnessed the accident; Amos Maroria, the head teacher, met his death at a local petrol station when another motorist hit him from behind leading to his vehicle rolling into the nearby river and plunged into it.

Upon rescue, he was rushed to one of the hospital in Kisii town where he died as he was undergoing treatment.

Until his death, the deceased was the Principal of Tambachi Secondary School and Chairman of Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Marani Sub-county.

After learning about the sudden demise of the principal, Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) expressed their great shock.

In his messages of condolence, Kisii Branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha said: “We send our most sincere heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, relatives and the entire Tambachi Secondary School family.”

Abincha added that the teaching fraternity in Kisii County has had a bad season because they have lost more than three teachers dying in road accident within a period of one month.

“We have lost a number of our colleagues in the cruel hand of death. Please let us remember their families in prayers,” he said.

The Unionist appealed to all road users to be more careful in order to avoid the alarming road carnage in the region.
