Teachers urged to help in the fight against drug abuse

 By Enock Okong’o

Teachers have been asked to intensify the fight against the use of alcohol and other drugs among the youth.

Addressing mourners at Senta village in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency, Kisii county, area deputy governor Dr Joash Maangi blamed adults who use the drugs openly.

He appealed to the church to tailor and strengthen youth related programmes that will enable youths abandon such social snares.

Maangi mourned the late Walter Oyagi of Nyamondo secondary school, terming him a dedicated teacher who actively transformed the lives of many learners through games and sports.

‘I call upon the police to investigate and bring to the light the cause of this death, ’Maangi appealed.

The late Oyagi was found dead in his house with a swelling on the back of the neck. He was rushed to Kenyenya Sub county hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

He leaves behind a widow and four children.
