Teachers urged to encourage learners’ participation in co-curricular activities

Makueni Sub-county Director of Education, Yophes Magara, has called upon teachers to encourage all learners to participate in co-curricular activities.

Speaking in his office, Magara reiterated that co-curricular activities are important for learners as they improve their cognitive and psychomotor skills, as well as discipline, alongside patience with one another, among many other benefits.

“Again, it pays, and it’s a form of employment. To be in line with curriculum based education (CBE) all learners should participate in field and should not be denied the opportunity,” Magara said.

He noted that they have completed the sub-county music level and that participants are proceeding to the county level, which will be held at Kathonzweni AIC Day and Boarding Comprehensive School.

He noted that, besides co-curricular activities, they are identifying pathways and combinations for every school in senior schools, while in primary grade 10, selection is ongoing.
