Teachers, parents and religious leaders in North-eastern urged to impart good morals into children

Teachers, parents and religious leaders in north-eastern region have been asked to impart good morals and clear life purposes into school children.

He urged parents to make sure their children undergo the religious schools before joining formal education.

While presiding over the closing ceremony of a three day Quran recitation competition at Mandera stadium Mandera Deputy Governor Mohamed Arai said the role played by these religious institutions can’t be overemphasised.

“It is part of our collective mandate as leaders to rally support and the ultimate value and tremendous role of religious institutions in nurturing and guiding children in the right path,’’ said the DG.

Arai added that religious institutions help learners to be principled and a kind of people who understand themselves and other people in the society.

“They understand their religious duty and responsibilities in family, community and society,” said Arai who added that the “horn of Kenya” county will continue to support the religious institutions so that they continue playing their role in proper upbringing and education of children.

The DG noted that a large population from the region had opted for madrassa education hence it enhances quality and relevant learning.

“As an administration, we have created a religious directorate to support spiritual affairs, including madrassa and Quranic schools and centres,’’ he said.

He said this strengthens Islamic centres that would promote success, righteousness and high merit in the societal morals.

The DG said parents from the region cannot ignore Islamic institutions adding that failure to enrol the children into these institutions would be harmful to society morals and dignity.

“Our Islamic schools play a very important role in the lives and livelihood of our children,’’ he said.

Adding that the Islamic institutions help in upbringing disciplined and morally up right children who will become important players in society.

The religious leaders and elders who graced the function thanked both Governor Ali Roba and the county speaker Mohamed Adan Khalif for the efforts and contributions towards the success of the function.
