Teachers fault transfers, threaten to hold protests

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has come under scathing attacks from unions within Elgeyo Marakwet County for discriminatory transfer of teachers.
Speaking to Education News in his office, county Kuppet executive secretary John Chesergon said he has witnessed teachers who have not stayed in a place for long yet the commission has guts to move them to far places away from their families.
He said that head teachers who have a good track record in their institutions should not be moved as it affects the performance of a school since change confuses students while t new principals might take more time to adapt in the new areas. – Dennis Bett
