The mass transfer of head teachers has adversely hit teachers unions, Saccos and associations where key officials have been moved from their home counties to far flung work stations.
The transfers implemented by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) targets head teachers at primary and secondary schools who have overstayed at their stations.
According TSC, the reshuffles are part of a new policy aimed at delocalising posting of teachers in their localities.
This is in line with Jubilee Government’s agenda to promote national cohesion and integration aimed to tackle negative ethnicity engulfing the country.
In Murang’a among those moved is Knut Murang’a North Treasurer, Zablon Kariuki, who was moved to Kitui County.
The board of Mentor Sacco society has been hit by the transfer of Eliud Nguma who is the secretary of credit committee and Robert Kibe a member of the committee which approves teachers’ loan applications.
Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association (KPSSA) is largely affected with transfer of top leaders from the county.
They are vice chairman Gichuru and treasurer, Joan Gitau.
The local branch of Kenya Primary Heads Association (KEPSHA) has several officials moved in the purge.
They are County Secretary, Fredrick Mwangi, Murang’a East Secretary, Onesmus Thuku, Penina Wachuka, Treasurer and Samuel Kiragu from Kahuro Sub-County among others.
Reacting to the issue KNUT North Executive Secretary, Rosaline Njoki Kamina said, the changes will seriously hurt the teachers, welfare bodies.
Kamina said the transfer of these leaders will undermine the administration of the organizations they manage to the detriment of the teachers and education sector in general.
