Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) have joined hands in calling upon the government not to scrape hardship allowances.
Speaking outside Catholic Church after induction of JSS teachers from Nzaui and Makindu sub county, KNUT Executive secretary Nzaui branch Joseph Ngwava Musyimi noted that Makueni being one of the affected counties, the government should add more instead of reducing.
“We are living in hard economic times kindly, don’t touch it from the pay slip since Makueni is one of the affected areas where the scrapping is likely to affect,” Ngwava said.
He called upon the government to allocate more funding needed so that there will be enough teachers for every subject since they don’t want gaps.

She highly condemned the murder of teacher Albert Ochieng adding that as union they are mourning him in their offices.
“Nobody deserves what Albert passed through. No parent deserves that pain as well.” Mbatha said.
