It was a double tragedy for the residents of Magena area in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency in Kisii County to lose two promising youths through suicide and road accidents.
In the first incident, Fred Otiambo, 32, a teacher at Riombasa Primary reportedly committed suicide on the night of February 28 shortly after spending a good part of the evening together with his girlfriend.
The girlfriend, who identified herself as Violet Moraa, from Boochi village, said she visited him at his rental house in Magena town where they planned the date of marriage next month.

“I later left for home to take care of my siblings after we had agreed that we would introduce each other to our parents to formalize our marriage,” she said.
Later, when she called her boyfriend teacher on the phone, there was no response. She then decided to make a follow-up but upon gaining entry to the house after forcefully pushing the door, she spotted her man’s body dangling from the ceiling of the roof.
The deceased’s uncle Amos Obonyo said that the teacher was his nephew who grew up at his home as he supported him to go to school and went through his studies successfully.

Bombaba Location Senior Chief Henry Mageto said he went with the police from Magena police station who removed the body from the scene to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem and preservation.
Kisii County Police Commander, Charles Keses said his officers had started investigations to cause of the death.

In another incident, the family of Rose Nyabuto was tongued tied after learning about her death through road accident.
According to her friends, the University of Nairobi student lost her life in a road accident on Thika road as they were on their way for an academic tour.
Her mother Alice Nyabuto said she had lost a very reliable daughter who was a Fourth Year university student pursuing Bachelor of Education degree in Mathematics and Biology.
She appealed to the Government to assist her in transporting the body from Nairobi for burial at Bombaba Ward in Kisii County.
