The police in Nyamira County have arrested a primary school teacher for allegedly defiling his Standard Eight pupil.

According to the parents of the 16-years old victim, the teacher met the girl on the road on Sunday while on her way home from a church service where the accused invited her to his house in the guise of providing her book for holiday studies.

However, when they reached his house, the teacher closed the door and abused her several times.

After dodging and escaping from her attacker through the window, she staggered home, bleeding before reporting the matter to her parents who took her to Keroka Hospital for urgent treatment.

Hospital report revealed that her private parts were injured during the incident but expressed hope of recovery.

“The tender muscles will return to normal although the girl will need constant counseling to cushion her from the trauma and stigma of rape,” advised the medic.

It was from there that her parents reported the matter to the Keroka Police Station whose officers launched a manhunt which led to the arrest of the suspect at Amabuko village in Nyankoba location.

The police identified the suspected teacher as George Omoke Omworo, a 41-years old man from Nyamira County.

“The suspect is in our custody and will appear in court tomorrow after the completion of our security report,” confirmed Keroka Police OCS.

Nyamira County Director of Education Mr. Boniface Ouko called for quick investigation to establish the truth of the matter and provide justice to the abused child.

Mr. Ouko appealed to parents to guard their children against evil during the long April holiday.
