Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Technical Director, Coach Francis Kimanzi, led a high-profile delegation of national team coaches on an inspiring tour of Oyaro Sports Academy in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County during the ongoing Nyanza region football academy outreach program in a bid of talent search.
The team included Harambee Starlets Head Coach, Beldine Odemba, celebrated former international and Coach Musa Otieno, and FKF women’s football official Jacklyn Juma.
The visit brought excitement to young footballers training at the academy, who had a rare opportunity to interact with and learn from some of Kenya’s most experienced football tacticians. The coaches conducted intensive, hands-on training sessions, focusing on technical skills, game intelligence, discipline, and modern football techniques. Their presence energized the academy, with players demonstrating eagerness to showcase their abilities.
Coach Beldine Odemba, accompanied by St Anthony’s Boys Kitale Head Coach, Peter Mayoyo—one of the country’s most decorated school-level tacticians—used the opportunity to scout emerging talent for the upcoming 2026 School Games. Both boys and girls were assessed, as the federation seeks to strengthen youth teams and build a strong foundation for future national squads.

According to the visiting coaches, the Nyanza region remains one of Kenya’s richest football talent hubs, producing top players who have excelled both locally and internationally. They emphasized the importance of structured academies like Oyaro Sports Academy in nurturing raw talent and offering pathways to professional football.
Coach Kimanzi noted that FKF’s nationwide talent development tour aims to bridge the gap between grassroots football and national team opportunities.
“We want to ensure that every talented child, regardless of location, has a chance to be seen and developed,” he stated.
Oyaro Sports Academy officials expressed gratitude for the recognition from FKF, saying the visit marks a significant milestone in their mission to support young athletes through training, mentorship, and competitive exposure. They described the session as transformative, with many of their players receiving valuable feedback that will shape their future careers.
The successful tour reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to producing disciplined, skilled footballers and reinforced FKF’s efforts to elevate youth football across the country.
