Take football seriously it pays, nominated MCA urges youths

Youths in Ainamoi in Kericho County have been urged to take the sport of Football seriously as it had transformed into one of the biggest sources of income in the country.

Nominated Member of County Assembly Mr. Ishma Matker advised both male and females in the Constituency to form active teams that can be promoted to higher levels in the local football leagues.

“We as your leaders want to take this chance to enlighten you on the impact of sports currently in the local and international arena.

It is one of the most lucrative fields which pay well and more of you should train hard to attain the standards needed to join good teams,”he added.

The nominated leader was speaking at the Kericho Teachers Training College (KTTC) when he represented Ainamoi Member of Parliament Mr. Benjamin Langat during the Kapkugerwet Ward Benja Cup Finals.

He thanked the MP for the initiative and said the response was overwhelming and was a sign that the government needed to act urgently to strengthen sports presence in the ward levels and upwards.

Mr. Matker later awarded the winning team of Lisbase FC Ksh. 20,000 which included Ksh 5,000 from him, second team of Central FC got Ksh 15,000 while third placed Prison Fc were awarded Ksh 5,000.

The fourth placed Elando FC received an additional Ksh 5000 from the nominated MCA.

Queen Tete FC were awarded a cash prize of Ksh 3000 from the MCA for being the most Disciplined team.

The MCA later proceeded to Poiwek Primary School grounds where he presented 20 ,000 to Poiwek FC won won the qualifying matches.

Another team which qualified to the constituency level was Kamasian FC who beat Motopbo Central FC to second place while Chebocho FC were placed third.

Lisbase Fc and Central FC will represent Kapkugerwet in the constituency level.

The starting games between Nyagacho FC and Kipchimchim B FC were flagged off by the area MP  flagged  last Friday at the Kipchimchim grounds.

During the function he encouraged the participating teams to play professionally and uphold the ethics of the great game of football.

The Ainamoi Member of Parliament emphasized that sports currently, apart from being a big source of entertainment was a great source of income and our youth should pursue it with passion.

“I take this early opportunity to wish all the participating teams’ success. May the best team win.”

The team that will emerge victorious during the ongoing Benja Cup will pocket Ksh 200,000 while the second placed will get Ksh. 150.000 and third will smile to the bank with Ksh 100,000.

Several other teams who will emerge number one in the ward level will walk away with a prize of Ksh. 30.000, second will be awarded Ksh 15,000 and third placed will get consolation prize of Ksh 5,000.

All the 126 participating teams will get Football Uniforms while those teams that will be eliminated in the ward level will each get a Football ball.

Over 126 teams both for men and women, football and Volley Ball categories, will be participating in the Benja Cup tournament in Ainamoi Constituency.

The grand final will be held on Sunday August 2023 at Kipchichim Secondary School grounds.
