Suna West MP donates food to BOM and private school teachers

Private school teachers and those working under BOM in Suna West sub-county heaved a sigh of relief after receiving seventy sacks of rice and twenty five sacks of beans from the area MP Hon. Peter Francis Masara.

A section of teachers who have gone for months in anguish without salaries since the outbreak of Covid-19 that saw closure of schools in March called on other leaders to emulate Hon. Masara.

Led by St. Ann Sunrise Girls’ High School Principal Ms Beatrice Mbora, appreciated MP’S move saying teachers who are not employed by TSC have been forgotten by leaders thus Hon. Masara has set an example.

“We appreciate what we have received from the area MP and I can proudly attest that it will assist us in feeding our families during this time of economic impotence brought by Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ms Mbora.

“Politicians should not hibernate till campaigns times to start dishing out money to the constituents but should at least help them out during their trying and tiring times,” she added.

Ms Mbora noted that it is ironical that politicians usually use teachers during their campaigns to reach out to their constituents with a central aim of gaining votes but turn their backs on teachers when they call for help.

While addressing the press Hon. Masara said he has been sourcing for funds through his office and family in a bid to reach out to the less fortunate in his constituency who have been immensely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We started the program with households within the constituency and now teachers and we hope not to stop at that since we are still sourcing for fund from well-wishers and through the Constituency office hoping to do this every month for different groups of people,” said Hon. Masara.
