Several students traveling home for mid-term break were stranded in Rongo town after vehicle they traveling in were towed to Rongo Sub-county offices.
This happened following an altercation leading to arrest of driver and tout of a public service vehicle by reinforcement officers for causing obstruction at the entrance of Rongo bus stage.
The driver confessed that he did obstruct as claimed by reinforcement officers as he had to slow down to give space to another vehicle which was coming out from the stage and reinforcement team quickly blocked him claiming that he caused obstruction at the entrance.
Students pleaded with Migori County government officials to allow them be taken to their destinations and summon the crew later but ignored and towed the vehicle to Sub-county offices, ordering students out of the vehicle.

Top security officials in Rongo were alerted and promised to secure release of the vehicle as the one in charge of reinforcement team was expected to follow laid down procedure.
The reinforcement action elicited tension among security officials as some questioned why they could not allow the driver to proceed to destination and report back later for legal action.
Top security team expressed disappointment over reinforcement action delaying students traveling home on half term as some reportedly were expected in rural home destination before evening.
It was an ugly incident as some of the students were tired and hungry and could not reach their destination in time even after leaving their various institutions at the wee hours. Female students raised concerns over their safety if they arrived late.
