Student athletes drawn from across the wider Rift Valley region are expected to converge at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County for the Townhall Time Trial on Wednesday, February 4.

During the event, young runners will get chance to showcase their talent and qualify for opportunities in U.S. college athletics, providing a rare platform where performance, exposure and education meet.

The competitors will take part in four middle and long-distance events: 5000m, 3000m, 1500m, and 800m.

According to the organizer, women must meet qualifying times of 16:30, 9:45, 4:25, and 2:07 while men are required to clock 14:05, 8:05, 3:45, and 1:48. These standards are designed to ensure a competitive field and prepare athletes for the level of performance expected in U.S. college programmes.

Organized by Townhall Premier Talents, the time trial has become a trusted pathway for African athletes seeking to combine competitive athletics with academic advancement.

Over the years, participants who have met qualifying times have gone on to join U.S. college teams, securing scholarships and gaining international exposure.

For many student-athletes, Afraha Stadium will be more than just a track. It will be the first step toward life-changing opportunities, offering a platform to compete, be noticed and open doors to education and sports abroad.

As the starter’s gun signals the beginning, every stride will count in the pursuit of dreams.
