Stop imposing projects on schools, MPs warned

By Gilbert Kobi

Kisii County Members of Parliament have been warned against imposing projects on primary and secondary schools in their areas.
Kisii County Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Chairman Jairus Onchoke claimed that there were MPs who had decided to start projects in schools without the knowledge of either the principals or the Boards of Management (BOMs).
He claimed one MP had a habit of deciding on which projects would be funded without giving schools a chance to identify priority projects.
“There is concern that an MP and his committee can decide on what project to go to what school without the knowledge of the school management, only for the principal to find strangers in his or her school purportedly working without his knowledge yet the principal is the accounting officer,” stated Onchoke.
