STEM textbooks reach 100% printing completion as distribution continues nationwide.

While printing of Grade 10 STEM textbooks has reached 100 per cent completion, distribution performance varies significantly among publishers and subjects, according to new Ministry of Education (MoE) data.

Table 4 of the release indicates that “total quantities printed: 1,670,264” represents “100.00 percent” printing status.

However, only “1,193,070” copies have been distributed, reflecting a “71.43 percent” national distribution rate.

Across individual subjects, distribution percentages differ markedly. For Agriculture under Mountaintop Publishers, distribution stands at 91.8 percent.

Aviation under Bookmark shows 100 per cent distribution. However, Biology under Distinction is at 76 per cent, and Chemistry under Access is at 73.40 per cent.

The MoE states that “the nationwide textbook distribution exercise was officially launched in January 2026,” and confirms that it “is currently ongoing in several counties.”

Officials emphasised the scale of coordination involved. “The Ministry of Education (MoE), through 21 contracted Kenyan publishers, has so far supplied over 1,193,070 Grade 10 course materials,” the release reads.

Despite variations, the Ministry maintains confidence in the completion schedule.

“The Ministry has assured schools and stakeholders that the remaining consignment will be delivered promptly,” it states, reiterating that all materials are “expected to be in public senior schools by the end of February 2026.”

Publishers, including Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB), Longhorn, Oxford University Press East Africa, Storymoja and others, are listed as participating contractors.

As CBC implementation deepens, attention is now shifting from production to last-mile delivery and accountability.
