Agitated stakeholders from some counties in the country have come out and read a riot act to some unscrupulous Teachers Service Commission (TSC) panelists against recruitment of non-locals while leaving out qualified locals.

Speaking to Education News on Saturday from Kapsabet, Eldoret,Kisumu and Narok towns, the enraged stakeholders expressed their frustrations over what they said that some TSC officers have recruited relatives, friends and connected individuals from other sub counties.

“It is not secret, some panelists here, have always ignored the guidelines by recruiting teachers from other areas leaving out locals,” lamented Henry Konga from Eldoret city.

Konga further said that the commission was quite informed that’s why they introduced the clause on locals and non-locals on its recruitment guidelines.

In Narok, local leaders have vowed to remain vigilant in a bid to ensure that locals are given first priority in Monday’s exercise. “Our silence has always led to neglect of the local teachers by TSC officers. We can’t allow this to continue any further,” said Thomas Nchoe from Narok town.

In Kisumu, the reached stakeholders raised concern that some teachers have totally lost hope after their colleagues with the same combination who graduated after them were favoured in unclear circumstances. This they said, have made many teacher graduates to doubt the credibility of the TSC recruitment panels at the sub county levels.

In other related news, teacher graduates from Nandi south, Nandi East and Chesumei sub counties in Nandi County are urging the subcounty offices to always display the final list of the successful applicants after Monday’s verification exercise.

“All along, the final list is not made public for scrutiny in our sub counties unlike other areas in the country,” lamented John Matelong.

He wondered why the list was kept secret yet it was part of the transparency that the commission cherishes in its core values.

TSC has invited over 190,000 teacher graduates for a paltry 24,000 vacancies under internship in the financial year 2025/26.The exercise is widely expected to kick off as from Monday, December 8, in all selected venues in the over 300 sub counties across the Country. It has been established that a panel will be made up of 3 officers and an administrator whose duty will be to usher in the teachers for verification
