Stakeholders urged to collaborate to quell unrest in schools

Mwala Sub-County Director of Education (SCDE) Stephen Kitungu

In the wake of recent unrest that has disrupted the smooth running of schools, Mwala Sub-County Director of Education, Stephen Kitungu, has called for urgent action to restore calm and ensure uninterrupted education.

Kitungu emphasized the need for all stakeholders including parents, teachers, and students to come together and address the issues fueling tension in schools.

“Education is a collective responsibility. We need a united front from parents, teachers, and students to curb the unrest we’ve been witnessing. It is only through collaboration that we can create a peaceful environment conducive for learning,” Kitungu said during a recent interview with the press.

His call comes at a critical time when many schools are experiencing disturbances that have jeopardized the academic calendar.

Kitungu noted that these disruptions, if not addressed, could negatively impact students’ overall performance and well-being.

He also urged parents to play a more active role in their children’s education, ensuring that they instill values of discipline and respect.

Teachers, on the other hand, were encouraged to maintain open lines of communication with students and their families, addressing any emerging issues before they escalate.

Kitungu’s remarks echo the concerns of many education officials across the country, who have raised alarms over increasing unrest in schools, which they fear could lead to long-term consequences if not handled promptly.
