The release of 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, (KCSE), last week by the Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba left many stakeholders in Nandi County in utter shock after the once performing schools failed to post impressive performance.

Education News has established that the once prestigious schools endowed with state of art infrastructure could not be traced nor even mentioned as upcoming schools stole the show.

In Nandi south, schools like Kapseng’ere, Aldai girls, Kapkolei girls and St Mark’s Kaptumo Boys didn’t receive any praise after the release of the results last week. “Whenever we ask for the overall performance, we are told that the same is still being worked on by the respective departments,” said one of the parents at Kobujoi trading centre.

So far, Kemeloi Boys (8.5),AIC Chebisas girls(8.6) ,Serem Boys(7.2) and Kemeloi Girls have been reported to post impressive results in Nandi south subcounty.

Samoei Boys, Lelwak Boys, Sochoi Boys and girls from Nandi East Sub County have remained completely silent in last year’s results. During 2024 KCSE, Samoei Boys had a mouthwatering mean of 9.5 and 9.6 in 2023.As per their tradition, the school usually storm Nandi hills town upon release of KCSE, a phenomena that never happened this time round. So far, Taito KTGA has made its results public. The school had a mean of 6.33 with a total of 165 students qualifying for university out of the 349 who sat for the exam.

The subcounty was led by Kapsabet Girls high school which recorded an impressive mean of 9.06.

The two National schools in Nandi; Kapsabet boys and St Joseph’s Girls chepterit added the list of the most performed institutions in Nandi County. Kapsabet recorded a mean of 10.1 while Chepterit posted a mean of 8.2.Many stakeholders were keen to see Lelmokwo Boys spring back after several years of disappearance from academic glory in the County. Their neighbors Itigo girls were reported to have a mean of 8.0.

As schools begin to make an in-depth analysis of the 2025, stakeholders in Nandi county are not impressed by the performance of most old schools which are believed to have enough facilities and human resources. They made a clarion call to the Education office to establish the reason for their worrying decline.
