St. Peter’s Boys excels, maintains lead in KCPE for Western region

St. Peter's Boys Primary School head teacher, Sister Praxidis Odero

St. Peter’s Boys Primary School in Mumias has once again demonstrated its academic excellence by maintaining its lead in the recently announced Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results for the Western region.

The school’s head teacher, Sister Praxidis Odero, revealed that out of the 316 boys who took the exam, only two scored below three hundred, with the lowest being 298 marks.

“Remarkably, over 80 students achieved four hundred marks and above, showcasing a substantial improvement from the previous year’s figure of 54,” she stated.

Additionally, Odero emphasized that the school also achieved a higher mean mark, recording an impressive 382 marks compared to the previous year’s 371 marks.

She attributed this success to the school’s ingrained culture of discipline among the boys and a well-structured academic system implemented by dedicated teachers, ensuring timely and high-quality teaching for optimal results.

The head teacher further highlighted the school’s commitment to preparing adequately for the academic needs of the boys, adhering to the stipulated timetable and calendar of events outlined by the school’s academic team.

Despite the remarkable achievements, the head teacher disclosed that the school plans to maintain its commitment to excellence as they transition into a new system.

Notably, with an enrollment of over 1700 pupils across seven streams, St. Peter’s recognizes the need for additional infrastructure to support the growing population.

Odero noted that the school management has taken steps to address this by acquiring new computers, enhancing the efficiency of the new system and ultimately ensuring continued quality education for the boys.
