St Patrick’s High School-Iten has intensified their push for national glory after clinching the rugby 15s title at the Elgeyo-Marakwet Secondary School Term One Games that concluded on March 9, 2026.
The Rift Valley champions edged out Tambach High School 10-5 in a hard-fought final, reaffirming their dominance in the region and sending a strong warning to rivals ahead of the next stage.
Rugby coach Geoffrey Chenibei expressed confidence in his squad’s ambitions beyond the county level.
“The boys showed great character and discipline. Winning here is just the first step — our main focus is the nationals. We are preparing to compete with the best in the country, and I believe this team has what it takes to go all the way,” said Chenibei.
He added that consistency in training and teamwork has been key to their success, noting that the players remain hungry for bigger achievements.

In hockey, St Patrick’s also celebrated county glory after beating Kipsoen 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a barren draw in regular time.
Coach Hannington Motum praised his players for holding their nerves under pressure while playing on home soil.
However, it was a narrow disappointment in basketball as Tambach High School stunned St Patrick’s 31-29 in a closely contested clash.
The school further marked success in athletics, with four athletes qualifying to represent the county at the upcoming Rift Valley Regional Games.
With strong performances across disciplines, St Patrick’s Iten now turn their focus to the regional championships — firmly determined to translate county success into national triumph.
