Students of St Mary’s High School have protested over their new principal, Nicodemus Ogeto, who was transferred to the school recently by Teacher’s Service Commission.
The students caused chaos at the institution, smashed windows and vowed to lock the new school out of the school.
The school is among several schools which have already resisted the move by Acting Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiang’i of transfering principals. Nevertheless, the CS has insisted that he will not reverse the move.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati said that the resistance he has for the new head teachers is not tribal, but has merit. He adds that the resistance should not be taken lightly.
Speaking at Naitiri Secondary School, the governor told residents that he will ensure that all county children access school.
