The St. Joseph’s Girls Senior School from Trans Nzoia County, alias JOGA, has made a significant breakthrough with one of its teams advancing to the National Level of the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF).
The progress comes after the team impressed judges with their project at the regional competition, showcasing the school’s strong focus on STEM education.
The school, known for its excellent academic performance, has consistently ranked highly in national exams. With a strong emphasis on co-curricular activities, students participate in sports, music, and clubs, fostering well-rounded development.
The KSEF project which involves research, experimentation, and presentation, with categories ranging from Agriculture to Robotics, enabled the students to showcase their creativity, scientific thought, and presentation.
The school noted that their success in KSEF is a testament to the collaborative efforts of students, teachers, and stakeholders. “Parents, alumni, and local organizations have contributed to the school’s growth, providing resources and mentorship to support students’ projects.”

As the school statement reads, “The journey has been long, but the determination and passion of our girls continue to shine. Here come JOGA — rising higher and aiming for greater heights!” The school congratulates the team and wishes them all the best as they represent at the Nationals.
At the National competition, the team will present their project to a panel of judges, showcasing their research and innovation. They’ll compete against top projects from across the country, with potential rewards including cash prizes and scholarships to further their education.
The team may also secure internships and mentorship opportunities with top industries, giving them a head start in their careers. Recognition and awards from prominent organizations are also on the cards, boosting their profiles and opening up future opportunities. Additionally, outstanding projects may be selected for showcase at international science fairs, providing global exposure.
