St Joseph’s Boys National School, Kitale, is set to host the annual JOBO Sports Tournament at the end of the month, in an event expected to draw secondary schools from across the region for two days of competitive action.
According to an official invitation released by the school, the tournament will be held on January 31 and February 1, 2026, at the institution’s sports grounds, with activities scheduled to commence from 8.00am.
The tournament will feature a wide array of disciplines aimed at promoting holistic education through sports. Both boys and girls will participate in most of the games, with the exception of Rugby 15s, which will be strictly for boys. Organisers say the programme has been structured to accommodate both traditional and emerging sports.
Games lined up include soccer, handball, volleyball, hockey, rugby 15s (boys only), rugby 7s, basketball (5-on-5 and 3-on-3 formats), table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, lacrosse, and Vx (Rock-It-Ball).
Participating schools will be required to pay Ksh 2,500 participation fee per senior ball game team, while Junior Secondary School (JSS) teams will pay Ksh 1,500. Individual players taking part in racquet games will be charged Ksh 500, with accommodation available at Ksh 400 per student, a move organisers say is meant to ease logistical arrangements for visiting teams.

The invitation, signed by Austin Musumba, the school’s Sports Director and tournament director, was issued on behalf of the Chief Principal. Schools have been urged to confirm their participation early to allow for smooth coordination of fixtures and logistics.
The JOBO tournament has over the years grown into a prominent fixture on the regional schools’ sports calendar, providing a platform for talent identification, inter-school interaction, and the promotion of discipline and teamwork among learners.
The school continues to strengthen its profile as a centre of excellence in both academics and co-curricular activities, with the JOBO Games standing out as one of the institution’s flagship sporting events.
