Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association boys’ football champions St Joseph’s Boys High School, Kitale, have withdrawn from the ongoing Super Eight School Tournament at the last minute in Kakamega, dealing a major blow to the highly anticipated competition.

It is understood that a number of first-team regulars are currently nursing injuries, making it difficult for the Trans Nzoia County giants to compete at full strength.

Further reports indicate that their bitter rivals, St Anthony’s Boys High School, Kitale, were keen to study their style of play ahead of the upcoming KSSSA national games.

The two Kitale-based football powerhouses have a long-standing rivalry that has shaped school football in the region for years, often producing tense and dramatic encounters.

St Joseph’s withdrawal has created an opportunity for Shanderema Secondary School, who have now been drafted into the tournament as replacements.
