St Joseph Boys, Musingu storm into handball semi-finals as KSSSA Term One games intensify in Kisumu

St Joseph Boys and Musingu High are through to the KSSSA semi-finals after dominant performances in Kisumu.

St Joseph Boys High School, Kitale and Musingu High School have qualified for the semi-finals of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) term one games at Kisumu Polytechnic after commanding performances in the boys’ handball category.

The two sides sealed their last-four spots on match day two, asserting their dominance in Group A. St Joseph Boys from Rift Valley defeated Saint Mary’s Yala of Nyanza 29-21 in a competitive encounter, while Musingu from the Western region cruised past Kenyatta 36-21 to confirm their place in the semi-finals.

The teams will now play their preliminary matches tomorrow to determine the first and second-placed teams in the pool, with the semi-finals slated for Friday at the Kisumu Polytechnic grounds.

In another group A handball fixture, St. Austin Matuu narrowly lost 18-19 to Handege in a closely fought match, while Highway recorded a commanding 45-15 victory over Sheikh Ali.

In the boys’ rugby 15s category, All Saints Embu secured a dramatic first win of the 2026 rugby 15s, edging out a determined Kwale High side 13-12, thanks to a last-minute try.

Upper Hill School beat Saint Mary’s Yala 17-10, Kisii School overcame Mang’u 17-6, and Kakamega High School dominated Menengai High School 33-14.

In the girls’ rugby 15s category, St Joseph’s Girls Kitale earned their first win on day two with a commanding 65-3 triumph over Sidindi Girls.

The boys’ hockey competition also produced exciting results, with St Anthony’s defeating Alliance 3-0, while Kisumu Day registered a 2-0 win against Mbooni High School.
