27 of the 44 KCPE candidates at St. Gloria Nyamonye Academy in Bondo Sub-county scored above 400 marks as per the results released yesterday.
The school manager Dennis Odhiambo Juma said they are elated by the sterling performance, having improved from last year’s mean of 396.4 to 400.
Juma attributed the good performance to the sacrifice made by the teaching staff who were determined to ensure the school finished top in the region.
He also noted that the candidates were a disciplined lot and that they were keen to heed to instructions from teachers, as well as demonstrate real hard work through their studies.
“It was a job well done and we are now in the league of top performers in Kenya,” noted Juma.
The manager praised the school director for always supporting their academic programmes, as well as insisting on improvement tools to see the school soar to greater heights.
The head teacher Martha Otieno revealed that the school was sure of the candidates’ potential ever since they were in class five.
Elsewhere, Ng’iya Girls Primary School jammed the streets of Siaya town to celebrate their performance after five of their pupils scored over 400 marks.
Five also achieved the same fete at St. Mary of the Angels School Nyamonye, and one at Atilili Primary School, also in Bondo Sub-county.
A section of parents whose schools posted a sterling performance, however, regretted that they will no longer have such celebrations owing to the end of the 8-4-4 curriculum this year.
