A total of 120 trainees at Sotik Technical Training Institute in Bomet County are poised to benefit from a KSh5 million scholarship programme jointly funded by the KCB Foundation and the Sotik National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF). The initiative, now in its interview phase, is expected to significantly expand access to technical skills training for young people in the constituency

Speaking as the interviews kicked off, Deputy Principal Joseah Langat said the scholarships are targeting learners enrolled in five technical courses and assured applicants that the selection process will be conducted transparently. He noted that the programme has attracted hundreds of applicants, reflecting the high demand for opportunities in Automotive Engineering, Cosmetology, Motorcycle Repair, Fashion Design and Food and Beverage.

Langat commended Sotik MP Francis Sigey for championing the partnership, saying the investment will help uplift local youth by equipping them with marketable skills. He described the initiative as a timely intervention that will open pathways to employment and self‑reliance.

KCB Foundation representative Richard Kirui said the scholarship is being financed on a 50–50 basis, with each partner contributing Sh2.5 million. He explained that beneficiaries will undergo three months of training followed by a three‑month industrial attachment, after which they will receive tools of trade to help them begin earning immediately. Kirui said the programme is designed to create jobs, strengthen livelihoods and support long‑term economic empowerment.

Area NGCDF Manager Shaddrack Rotich welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a transformative effort that will positively impact young people across the constituency. He said the partnership demonstrates the value of coordinated support between public institutions and private foundations in addressing youth unemployment.
