Sotik Teachers FC claimed a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Chepalungu Teachers FC in a highly competitive friendly match played at Chepkosiom Primary School grounds, Sotik Sub-County, yesterday.
The match was part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming National Teachers Football Tournament, which will take place in Machakos in April 2025. Over 50 teams nationwide are expected to participate in the highly anticipated event.
The encounter displayed tactical brilliance and determination, with both teams showcasing remarkable resilience.
Sotik Teachers FC took an early lead but had to fend off a strong comeback from Chepalungu Teachers FC.
The seven-goal thriller kept spectators on the edge of their seats, further highlighting the competitiveness of the teachers’ football circuit.
The presence of Bomet KUPPET Branch Organizing Secretary Justus Rono and union aspirant for the position of Secretary Secondary, Festus Mutai, a teacher at Motiret Secondary School, also adds an interesting dynamic, showing the importance of sports in the teachers’ community.
Speaking after the game, Justus Rono commended teachers for their active involvement in sports and their role in mentoring young talents.
“Teachers are instrumental in shaping not just academic excellence but also sports development. Their involvement in games like football motivates students to embrace physical activity, teamwork, and discipline—qualities essential in life,” Rono stated.
