Sorrow at school in Bomet as Form Three student passes on after brief illness

Brenda Chebet of Saseta Girls died after illness; the school community mourns her sudden passing.

Saseta Girls High School in Bomet County is in mourning following the untimely death of Form Three student Brenda Chebet, who passed away after a short illness.

According to a statement from the school principal, sent to parents, Brenda began experiencing convulsions and breathing difficulties at around 3:00 am on Tuesday. She was rushed to Litein Hospital, where she was resuscitated and later referred to South Rift Hospital for further examination, including a CT scan.

Unfortunately, she succumbed to her condition at 9:00 am after being returned to Litein Hospital. Her parents were promptly informed and were present during her final moments.

The school community has expressed shock and sorrow over the sudden loss. Chamgei FM journalist Joseah Kerich, also a parent at the institution, extended his heartfelt condolences to Brenda’s family and praised the school’s swift response and transparent communication with parents.

Kerich noted that the school handled the matter professionally, dismissing claims of unrest within the school. Details on what exactly caused her death have not been revealed yet, as post-mortem and further investigation will be done in due course.

“As a parent of a student at Saseta Girls’ Secondary School, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the family of the student who sadly passed on after a short illness. We thank the school administration for the swift response during her illness and for keeping parents informed. We also wish to clarify that there is no unrest reported at the school,” Kerich said.
