Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has facilitated the transportation of stranded Pwani University students who survived the grisly road accident last week.

This is after videos and photographs surfaced online depicting the students stranded at the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) terminals in Nairobi County as some students were even forced to sleep on the cold floor.

In addition he gave an extra Sh 100, 000 for meals and snacks to carry them through their journey to Mombasa.

“I am happy the survivors of the Pwani University bus accident who were stranded in Nairobi are on their way to Mombasa after my quick intervention.

“I also gave them some pocket money for meals and transport to their final destinations. I wish all the other survivors admitted in various hospitals a quick recovery,” he said.

The students, who were travelling from Egerton to Kilifi, reached the SGR terminus 10 minutes late on Saturday, 1st April, missing their 10: 00 pm train.

The horrific accident occurred when the bus ferrying students for a games championship that was to take place in Eldoret collided with a 14- sitter matatus leaving at least 14 people dead.
