Before closing for term two holidays, Mercy Njeri High School in Rongai constituency, Nakuru County, has everything to smile about after receiving a major boost in its infrastructure. Through the CDF kitty, under the patronage of the area MP, the school, which hosts over 500 students, will now have a school bus.
Several dignitaries, including County Governor Susan Kihika, attended the handover event. Governor Kihika emphasised the importance of peace and unity, particularly in advancing education and development. She highlighted the disbursement of Sh27 million in bursaries to 4,000 students in Rongai, part of the Sh440 million allocated across Nakuru County.
“Our ECDE school feeding program continues to improve enrollment and attendance in early childhood centres,” she noted.

Other leaders who accompanied the MP heaped praises on CDF-Kitty, which is facing a tough constitutional crisis, saying the kitty introduced during Kibaki’s tenure had achieved a lot and should be maintained.
The current financial stalemate facing the Ministry of Education dominated the speeches of the guests. They all agreed that the funding should be continued to bridge the gap between the literate and illiterate.
Among the leaders present at the event are Deputy Governor David Kones, MPs David Gikaria, Samuel Arama, Irene Njoki, Martha Wangari, Alfred Mutai, Charity Kathambi, Joseph Tonui, Samuel Gachobe, and County MP Lisa Chelule.
