Kakamega High School has once again proven to be a powerhouse of football talent after six of its students were named in the final squad of the Kenya U-17 National Team (Junior Stars) for the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations CECAFA Qualifiers.
The selected students, including Georgian Chris, Julius Ochieng, Eugene Ochieng, Wayne Wamaya, Derrick Muchiti, and Brighton Nacheri, famously nicknamed “Messi,” have been hailed for their exceptional skill, discipline, and commitment on the pitch.
Their inclusion in the travelling squad has brought pride and excitement to the entire Kakamega High community.

Teachers, parents, and fellow students celebrated the achievement, noting that the school’s reputation for producing top football talent in the country continues to shine.
“The Green Commandos is heavy,” remarked one staff member, reflecting both the strength of the national squad and the school’s consistent contribution to Kenyan football.
The young players will now join the national U-17 team for intensive preparations ahead of the CECAFA Qualifiers, which serve as a critical step toward the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The coaches have praised the students for their technical abilities, resilience, and capacity to perform under pressure, qualities that earned them spots in the final squad.
