Got Osimbo Girls Senior School, one of Siaya County’s top-performing institutions, is appealing to the national government and well-wishers to support the construction of a twin laboratory, a development the school says is critical for enhancing its science programmes.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Principal Canon Caroline Ngunya emphasized that the lack of a proper laboratory is a major barrier for students aspiring to excel in science subjects.
“A fully equipped twin laboratory will make science learning more practical and interactive, ultimately improving performance and preparing our students for higher education and competitive careers,” she said.
The call comes despite the school’s impressive performance in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, where it registered a mean score of 7.010 and a mean grade of C+. This achievement places Got Osimbo Girls among the top schools in the region, reflecting the dedication of both the teaching staff and students.

Canon Ngunya urged the government, alumni, and other philanthropists to intervene, saying the laboratory is not just an investment in the school but the future of girls who aspire to pursue careers in science and technology.
“The students here are bright and hardworking. What they need now is the right infrastructure to complement their efforts and take their learning to the next level,” added the principal.
Community members have also rallied behind the school, highlighting that improved facilities would not only benefit current students but also attract more learners to pursue science studies, thereby fostering a culture of innovation and academic excellence in the county.
As Got Osimbo Girls Senior School waits for support, the appeal underscores a broader challenge facing many top-performing schools in Kenya, where infrastructure gaps often limit the full potential of talented students.
