Siaya inks deal with Canadian town to improve ECDE

The Siaya County Government has signed a partnership deal with the Town of Taber in Canada, which will aid in improving the status of the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) in the county.

Governor James Orengo while hosting a delegation from Taber Town at his office in Siaya town noted that they will explore avenues for collaboration in various sectors such as education, health, agriculture, technology and public works.

The two entities have a growing relationship that dates back to 2018 and culminated in June 2022 with a visit by His Excellency Mayor of Taber Town Andrew Prokop.

The objective of the cooperation is to foster mutual collaboration, share knowledge and explore best practices in governance and community development.

In the deal to improve ECDE in Siaya County, Taber Town is set to support the county build two model ECDE centres both in Siaya and Bondo towns.

“Taber Town will assist us in constructing two state-of-the-art ECDE centres in our major towns of Siaya and Bondo. They have undertaken to fully equip the centres, design and brand them and train the staff,” Orengo stated.

“This whole educational improvement will be done by Parallel Church and Tango Group in Taber town, Canada, which will also ensure mobilization of resources and technical expertise to support the built ECDE projects and other educational programmes,” he added.
