Short academic calendar might cause poor performance, school head warns

By Hilda Atika

Shieywe Secondary School Principal Kefa Atsobwa has expressed concern that the short academic calendar might affect the performance of 2022 candidates in their national exams.

He revealed that the candidates have been hit hard by the long election break which forced them to stay at home.

However he expressed commitment to improve the school’s mean from 4.2 recorded this year to 4.5 in 2022 KCSE.

Atsobwa advised the candidates to use the available time to focus on their studies and revise for exams.

“I would therefore urge the 217 candidates to work hard and emerge winners in the forthcoming national exams,” he said.

The normal academic calendar was interrupted by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.  The calendar should return to normal in January 2023.
