The police in Kisii have started investigations that may lead to the arrest of the culprit behind the death of a local Youth Polytechnic student.
The student’s beheaded body was found dumped at the roadside.
According to family members, the deceased had attended a night funeral of his grandfather and left for his house to rest as he waited for the following morning’s funeral programmes.
“He left other family members in the group and retired to sleep. We don’t know if he went straight to his house or went somewhere else where he met his death, and the body was transported here,” said his tearful mother.
The police from Magena station took the body to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem pending further investigations into the cause of the death.
Early police investigation indicated that the body was mutilated several times, and then it was beheaded.
The police identified the body as Tom Osiemo, 23, from Nyambunwa Village of Boochi Borabu Ward in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency.
Residents who spoke to Education News decried the increasing rate of insecurity in the area and attributed it to a large number of jobless youths who gate class at the bubs in Magena market, where they take cheap wine and spirits that weaken their reasoning ability and expose them to committing evil.
