“Under his stewardship, academic performance in our subcounty rose dramatically from position eight to position two. In the most recent KCSE results, over 600 students achieved university entry grades, a direct result of his tireless work.”

During his tenure, Dr. Rono oversaw key policy implementations, strengthened school governance, and championed initiatives to support teacher development. His efforts culminated in Webuye East being named the most improved subcounty in the country during the last Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cycle.

Education officials across Bungoma County have described his death as a significant blow to the education sector, noting that his leadership set a benchmark not only in performance but also in accountability and vision.

Condolence messages have flooded in from teachers, school administrators, parents, and students — many crediting Dr. Rono with inspiring a culture of academic excellence and integrity in local institutions.

Details surrounding his cause of death remain undisclosed, and funeral arrangements are currently underway.
Dr. Rono is survived by his family and a legacy that education stakeholders say will be remembered for years to come. The Ministry of Education is expected to issue an official statement in the coming days.
