Residents at Kamusinga Village, Kibingei ward in Kimilili Constituency Bungoma County has been left in shock after a class eight pupil who just completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) gave birth to a male child without an opening at the end of alimentary canal.

Addressing journalist at her residence, Mary Nanjala, the grandmother to the girl said that her grandchild gave birth normally immediately after she completed her exams.

‘’My grandchild got pregnant while in school, therefore I decided to support her give birth. I did not want her to abort the pregnancy because the pregnancy had grown to an extent that it cannot be aborted,’’ she noted.

However, she added that she was displaced from Mt. Elgon during the Mt. Elgon clashes that foresaw many people running away while others were murdered, adding that all her family members were killed in the clashes.

Nanjala said that the baby boy is now at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret as she struggles to raise funds to facilitate an operation.

She added that the specialist did a small surgery to allow the minor to relive as he waits to undergo a major surgery for doctors to locate an opening at the end of the alimentary canal to allow him pass solid waste from the body.

‘’I plead with well-wishers to help me raise the amount that will cater for my great grandchild to undergo operation,’’ she begged.

Nanjala further stated that since birth the child has been undergoing tremendous pain.

‘’I have never closed my eyes for a rest, my plea to the well-wishers is to help me raise the amount to help me cater for this young family,’’ she said.

The family is living in poverty as well-wishers have been urged to help the old grandmother get a piece of land and build a home.

She says that her land was taken away during the clashes, adding that she pays Sh300 for rent every month.

Her sentiments were reiterated by Rose Lubwa,  a neighbor who requested well-wishers, leaders and religious leaders to intervene and help the old grandmother.

The family is staying in a difficult environment and needs immediate intervention, adding that contributions can be channeled through:
